F*ck No, Fandom Bullies!

Because you KNOW it hurts. Please don't stand by and let it happen!

Anonymous asked: I love this blog, but I'm curiosu .... I'm anon cause I don't want them going after me, so couldn't it be something like that for the fanfic blog? I mean not the exact same, but like they don't want people to know they're liking a bunch of bullies? idk.

Yeah, that’s totally possible, but if it’s true it just means that they are cowards. It’s one thing to be anonymous because you don’t want to be attacked—it’s another thing to anonymously encourage bullying. Especially since anonymous bullying can hurt people even more than flat out bullying sometimes. I know from experience that not knowing if it was one of the people you call your friend secretly dissing you is a really stressful thing. I am sure many of their anonymous messages are real people but because some of them are worded so similarly and are so encouraging of bullying, I figure that they sent at least a few to themselves. It’s a good way to make you look more popular than you are and to ease people’s minds—it must be okay since so many people LIKE it. I’ve known a couple people on Tumblr who have done this on their personal blogs.

Anonymous asked: Why do you censor the Fuck? I think it's WAY more effective uncensored! You need to get your point across more firmly, or those assholes won't listeN!

LOL mostly because I spend more of my time than I should at work doing tumblr stuff and if my boss walks behind me it’s at least a LITTLE more work safe. ;)

i think that you should at least show us who wrote the fanfics.

Response: Um, anon, did you not read the info box?

…Not to be harsh because I know you’re just posting fics you think are great, but putting up someone’s fanfic and just putting that you didn’t write it instead of even mentioning the author’s name is not kosher, Glee Gay Fanfics. Fandom does have some unspoken rules and things tend to run more smoothly when people respect these rules. Stating in your info section that you will give the name of an author of a fic you’ve archived if you are messaged by a reader asking about it is not enough. I think a lot of people would appreciate it if you would start mentioning the author instead of just implying that, since you didn’t write it, there’s no reason to list who did.

Bad Glee Fic’s Toning It Down!

I know a lot of people were doubtful that protesting Bad Glee Fic would do anything to help them matter, but it seems awfully coincidental that, a few days after making this blog, Bad Glee Fic has decided to make some “policy changes,” if you will. They are stopping the ‘What Do You Think of [Insert Author]’ series and they will not post sporks if the author messages them telling them not to.
It’s not perfect (I still believe they should have to contact all authors and that any author should be allowed to ask them to remove their fanfic), but it’s a start!

See? You can make a change. So don’t stand by and let people bully!

Policy Changes:

We here at Fuck Yeah Bad Glee Fic are busy little worker bees, plotting our schemes behind the scenes. We’ve made changes as time’s gone by but we haven’t felt the need to point them out. However we now require you to sit up, sweet followers, because this affects you too:
 • We are going to stop with the What Do You Think Of [Author] series of asks. Either you’re the author in question, or you’re incapable of forming an opinion by yourself, or you’ve got a mile-wide grudge streak and want to know you aren’t alone. We aren’t interested in any of these things. Go hit up an anon meme, or if you’re an author privately message us and we’ll be straight with you. And on that note …
 • We are going to respect the wishes of authors — to an extent. If the idea of us snarking your fic is making you piss yourself, you should change your pants and message a request (un-anon, we want the real Slim Shady to please stand up) that we don’t snark it. We won’t be taking down snarks after the fact. Our blog would be gone and really, that won’t erase the knowledge from your mind that people out there are mocking your fic.

There are some more things, but we’re still hammering out the details of those and we’ll get back to you on it. So keep these two items in mind and keep on bringing us new badfics or writing questions, you crazy kids.

Bad Glee Fic, ‘Some Housekeeping’

‘Bad Glee Fic’ ANONYMOUS. Clever or Cowardly?

So I am scrolling through the ‘ask’ tag on Bad Glee Fic, where they post responses to questions in their ask box, and after awhile I begin to notice something.

They’re all ANONYMOUS.

So I go through all 7 pages of asks and, out of almost 70 ask entries, there are only 6 that are not by anonymous users. So my question is: Are people just total cowards or is Bad Glee Fic maybe giving themselves a little more to work with by posting anonymous comments to their own blog?

Considering the number of anonymous askers combined with the tone of the asks… I honestly think more than one or two of those asks are BGF using the oldest trick in Tumblr’s book to make themselves look popular. I mean, take a look on some of the stuff just on the first page…

Anonymous asked: *sigh*… if i could actually finish a fic i thought was even half-way decent, i would ask you guys to spork it in an instant…

Anonymous asked: MOAR MOAR!! FEED MY NEED FOR RIPPING APART BAD FANFICTION!!

Anonymous asked: I’d love to see you guys snark the fandom favorite Go Your Own Way by zavacado or whatever her name is. Talk about over the top! And the new librarian one is even worse! Why are so many lame things so beloved by the masses?

Anonymous asked: First, bravo for having the courage to keep anonymous questioning on when running a blog like this; that takes serious guts. Second, while I do think you guys can be more than a little harsh, I do think any aspiring writing should be capable of taking the snark. They’ll never get anywhere if they can’t. Third, have you guys done anything about YaDiva’s work? I read it because it hits some of my more shameful kinks, but I don’t understand people who say they like it for the actual story…

Anonymous, anonymous, anonymous… Looks like a Tumblr pull over to me. And if it’s not, well, then all I have to say is that all of your people, ready to rip apart the work of others, need to grown some damn balls and post as yourself, like a grown up.

Defeat

Anonymous asked: *sigh*… if i could actually finish a fic i thought was even half-way decent, i would ask you guys to spork it in an instant…

I was reading old asks (well, deleting shit I don’t care about) when I saw this.

I’m rather disquieted by your defeated tone. Come back and explain why you feel you can’t write anything “even half-way decent.” I would love to listen and discuss it with you. Hell, maybe I can help.

So fire away, nonnie (or even come off anon so we can message privately.)

- Bad Glee Fic, Response to Anon

Yeah, I can’t imagine why anyone would feel too defeated to write. I can’t imagine why anyone would feel that their work was too lousy for these amazing reviewers to spork. Because it couldn’t have anything to do with the way people online feel the need to rip each other apart.

Do us all a favor and decide whether you want to help or hurt, don’t waver in between playing with people’s emotions as you try to acquire adoring fans.

pastelandpretty asked: The whole fuckyeahbadgleefic thing has pushed me to the edge of leaving this fandom permanently. I suffer from depression and have since jr. high, when I was bullied every day.'m just tired of people thinking it's cool to treat other people badly as long as it is not them feeling that way. NO ONE should feel the way I have felt for the past few months in this fandom, and being made fun of for trying to write fanfiction and showing and expressing creativity is a form of bullying.

Oh, hun, please don’t let it push you away. I KNOW how you feel, I really do—I lurked in fandoms for years because of just that kind of stuff (and I also suffer from depression—bipolar disorder actually—and KNOW how these sort of things can practically live like some sort of sea scum in your mind, growing and growing). It doesn’t help that, with all the young people and the canon versus fanon wars, the Glee fandom can be crazier than most.

But I also know that I found my best friend in this fandom, the person I’d been trying to find for years, and I have made some of the greatest online friends I’ve ever known. Mostly by ignoring anything but what the people I care about say.

My friend ended up being bashed by a very prominent member of the Glee fandom at one time. This person lied about her and accused her of things she would never do… We discovered that the best way to deal with it was to simply tell the person that their accusations were wrong and then not speak to them anymore. Stick with the people you care about. And if you ever need a list of some of the greater people in this fandom, I got it for ya. And by great I don’t mean famous. I mean caring and fun.

And I agree with you totally. Fanfic is for fun, and it’s often cathartic. People get joy out of it and to knock that down is just cruel, and a little sad, too. Sad that these people actually think it’s okay and sad that they have nothing better to do. On the Net, more than anywhere else, I try my best to follow one rule that, when I break it, usually leads to shit:

If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

<3s to you.

Does anyone find this cowardly? If you’re gonna be a bully, don’t be a coward, too.

Anonymous asked: I see some anons are looking for some bad Kum fic, but the truth is that it doesn’t exist because our fandom is totally perfect. In all seriousness though I have absolutely nothing to do next week so I’ll find you guys some good bad stuff. I would actually submit my own, but I actually know that it’s horrible and I already criticize my own writing enough. xoxo Kum!anon

Anonymous Question on Bad Glee Fic

Okay, now THERE is quite an excuse. You won’t send your stuff in for them to snark at because you know it’s bad and are down on yourself enough as it is—but you will send them other fanfiction YOU decide is bad to make fun of? Am I the only one who does NOT think this is cool?

Anon, real people write that fanfic and it’s real people that you’re hurting. Don’t take the coward’s way out to make yourself feel better.

Anonymous asked: I think maybe we should be asking them what exactly makes them so qualified to "spork" other peoples fic. Also their "disclaimer"claimed that they too had written bad fic. Maybe they should post some and allow people to "spork"it in turn.

LOL, well, I have no problem with people sporking their own fic or the fic of people they have permission from—my friends and I used to purposely write ‘badfic’ (and I mean TERRIBLE fic) and line by line “spork” it (this relatively “old” fandomer still thinks of it as MST3King), writing as if we were the characters from the show (I was in the Highlander fandom at the time) and they were like the robots in Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Duncan MacLeod had WONDERFUL freak outs over those terrible sex scenes and Methos was just a riot. But there’s a big difference between letting people spork your fic and doing it to humiliate people. Let’s face it—these people know they have no right to do what they do. They just don’t really care. So there’s no real point in getting back at them by doing the same. I just want them to know that there are LOTS of people out there who think what they are doing is flat out wrong and that we’re NOT going to ignore it.

princedarrenababwa asked: I know of, and have links to, a lot of those fan fictions listed on the bad review site. I read a lot, like, a lot - a lot, and that includes stuff on the internet. Actually some of the fics on the bad review site I love and have favorited because of their 'purple' prose that annoys the operators the bad fic blog so. Lol. Anybody needs links, chances are I have them if the searcher can't find them.

That’s great! So anyone who needs fic links, hit up my girl fancyzebra.
